A Big Trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium | Prelude
Lola loves fish, turtles and seahorses. Somehow she knew who Nemo was before we ever watched the movie at home. Oftentimes before bed, rather than read a few book, we’ll watch a few fish videos. Apple’s Quicktime HD Gallery has a bunch of cool videos that feature fish such as this one. So we figured she would really like to see, and even touch, them up close. The adventure and “worry” began very early Friday morning - around 2:00am to be exact. Julie woke up to the sound of Lola softly crying and immediately woke me up because Lola was burning hot. When I picked her up she was feverish from her forehead to her toes. I have never held or touched someone that was that warm all over, it was quite alarming. Her temperature turned out to be 103.7o! So while Julie tried to get a doctor on the phone, Lola and I jumped in the bathtub to try and cool down a bit. That seemed to work a little and after getting some new pajamas on and cuddling for a bit she finally fell back asleep around 3:00am. We never did get a doctor to call us back but Lola seems to be amazingly “resilient” and although she was hot as heck, she was still alert and engaged.Obviously our big plans for Monterey seemed to be right out but we decided to wait on a final decision until we met with the doctor later that morning. As it happens, Lola had her regularly scheduled two-year doctor visit Friday morning and we had planned to leave for Monterey straight from the doctor’s office.
