The Good Ole Days

Sometimes I know just enough about “the way it was” to make me imagine what it must have been like. However many years ago when the father waited quietly and patiently outside the delivery room, smoking cigarettes until the nurse came to tell him he was a proud new father. But, of course, progress is just that - progress. Now husbands share the experience, the anxiety, the excitement and - in some small way - the pain of child birth, too.So in the name of progress, Julie and I went to an eight hour marathon session devoted to that day when Baby would be born. It was an amazing experience. There were videos, charts, breathing exercises (of course) and about eighteen potty breaks.I think we’re ready. We know how to breath, how to sit and squat and stretch during contractions. Which is great to know now. I think remembering in four weeks while baby’s actually trying to make her grand entrance is a whole ‘nother story. We’re looking into a Doula.
