Sleeping Habits
I’m not sure if I’ve written about this before, but I want to make a point of recording the kids’ sleeping habits these days. The nap business at Lighthouse is really catching up to Ollie. For many years now, despite taking a two hour nap at school, Ollie was really good about bed time and would fall asleep within a matter of minutes of laying down in bed. (Bed time is roughly 8:30pm.) Lola, as I’m sure I’ve written about before has not been a very good bed time person. But for the last year or two, because she doesn’t take naps at school anymore, is the one who practically passes out when she lays down at night. It’s been hard to get mad at Oliver about his poor bed time habit because we know the kid just isn’t tired as much any more. (Although, it’s interesting how that conflicts some what with what I’ve heard about the number of hours a child needs to sleep.)Where they also differ tremendously is in the morning. Oliver is a morning boy and how. The other day, at about 5:45am, he woke me up and asked if he could open his advent calendar. Admittedly some of the early morning-ness comes from his excitement about his Lego advent calendar, but there is no mistaken it, the kid wakes up early and enthusiastically. Lola on the other hand, is much more like the teenager I just wrote about. She’d sleep until 10:30a if we let her. Which, again, is not all bad because it’s good she’s getting that healthy dose of rest. But some mornings, when we need to get up to get ready for school, it can be obnoxious.Off topic:Julie commented on Oliver the other day, I think he was putting a Lego together: “He might be lazy but he is focused.” True dat.
