42 Days

Lola GrandpaIf you would have told me a month and half ago that I’d have a six week old daughter by now, I would have said you were mad. But it’s true. Things have been a little crazy around here recently. I’ve returned - with great reluctance - to work and have already been down to L.A. twice (I leave Thursday for the third time). Julie has been running this circus solo during the day and keeping her sanity as best she can. Here’s a little bit of what has happened since we last spoke:Lola had her first babysitter on Friday night! My friend from work, Julie, entertained our little sweet pea while Jules and I went to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert.Of course, a babysitter was made possible by the incorporation of a bottle into her feeding routine. Our doctor recommended we start around week three or four and Lola took to it right away. We’ve been giving her a bottle sparingly but it seems to be working out.
We recently had our one-month doctors visit which also went really well. She weighed in at 8-1/2 pounds which is within the range of normal but Dr. Gerwein still wants to see her continue to pack it on. No shots yet. Next month I think she gets four. She is starting to hold her head up more often these days. Though if your not paying attention it will quickly come crashing down on your collar bone. And then I think she is only days away from a bona fide smile. She’ll get close with a smirk while she’s passing gas but that doesn’t count. I can see the expression starting to form while I give her gaa-gaa eyes and goofy faces. She doesn’t seem to be ticklish yet. That’s about it. Let’s do this more often.
